SLL's Latest Dramas & Movies to Look out for 🎥

‘The Outlaws 3‘ Dominates Korean Box Office With 6 Million Ticket Sales

 

"The Roundup: No Way Out",  the third installment of the crime-action franchise 'The Outlaws' set a record of 6 million moviegoers within a week of its release.

  According to the Korean Film Council's Korea Box-office Information System, “The Roundup: No Way Out” drew 821,089 people as of June 6, bringing its cumulative total to 6.052 million only 7 days after the premiere. The movie is expected to surpass the records set by previous box office mega-hits such as “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” and “Train to Busan.”

 Produced by SLL’s label B.A. Entertainment, The Outlaws 3 follows the story of the rough-and-tough cop who chases down a drug ring after being assigned to the violent crime department. Don Lee, who is also the man behind the series’ production, plays Ma Seok-do, while Lee Joon-hyuk and Munetaka Aoki play new villains Joo Seung Cheol and Ricky.

  
‘Cobweb’ Nominated for Sydney Film Festival’s Official Competition

 

"Cobweb", co-produced by SLL’s label Anthology Studios, has been invited to compete at the 70th Sydney Film Festival, following its visit to Cannes.

  "Cobweb" tells the story of a film director from the 1970s who is obsessed with creating a masterpiece and struggles to re-shoot a film that has already been finished. Besides the Cannes-winning actor Song Kang-ho, the cast includes famous stars such as Im Soo-jung, Oh Jung-se, Jung Soo-jung, and Jeon Yeo-been.

 Twelve other programs will be competing for ‘Sydney Film Prize’ with "Cobweb". During the festival, the movie will be played on screen from June 17 to 18, along with a talk session with the director Kim Jee-woon.

 Nashen Moodley, the director of the festival, commented on "Cobweb" that he was “absolutely mesmerized”, and “could not stop laughing throughout the entire time watching it”.

 “Above all, "Cobweb" is a brilliant depiction of the pains of creation. It's an amazing work.” said the director, explaining why the film was invited.  

  
Rom-Com ‘King the Land’ to Premiere on June 17

 

 The fifth trailer of SLL’s brand-new drama "King the Land" has been released before its upcoming premiere in June. The trailer showcases Im Yoon-ah and Lee Jun-ho’s electric chemistry that gradually develops throughout their bumpy love story.

   Produced by SLL’s label npio Entertainment, "King the Land" introduces a chaebol heir character named Gu Won who cannot stand fake smiles. Gu Won meets Cheon Sarang who is always equipped with a bright smile at work no matter how she really feels inside. The two get off on the wrong foot at first, but together they eventually set out to find happy days in which they can sincerely smile brightly together.

   The highly-anticipated romantic comedy is scheduled to air on JTBC on Saturday, June 17, as well as on Netflix for international viewers.

'Concrete Utopia' Coming up on August with Star-studded Cast

 

 The movie "Concrete Utopia" starring Lee Byung-hun, Park Seo-joon, and Park Bo-young, will be joining the summer movie line-up of 2023. The premiere date is yet to be confirmed. 

 Disaster-thriller "Concrete Utopia" follows the survival story of Hwang Goong apartment residents who manage to be the only survivors after a devastating earthquake sweeps Seoul. Lee will be playing Youngtak, the spokesperson for the residents who strive to protect the apartment from the outsiders, while Park Seo-Joon and Park Bo-young play a couple who tries not to lose faith under extreme circumstances.

"Concrete Utopia" is loosely based on Part 2 of the hit webtoon “Joyful Outcast”. The film is directed by Uhm Tae hwa, and produced by SLL’s prolific label Climax Studio whose previous works include "Bargain", "Hellbound", and "D.P."

'Miracle Brothers' to Take over the Timeslot of 'The Good Bad Mother'

  The 2nd teaser of the upcoming mystery drama “Miracle Brothers” has been released. Starring veteran actor Jung Woo and the rising star Bae Hyun-sung, the show will follow the end of "The Good Bad Mother." 

“Miracle Brothers” revolves around Yook Dong Joo, the main character who once showed great potential as a writer like the famous poet he was named after, but struggles to succeed and gets loaded with debt.

  

  Dong Joo’s life, however, turns upside down as he encounters a mysterious boy Kang San, who has the ability to feel the pain and despair of others and read minds. 

 Co-produced by SLL and others producers, "Miracle Brothers" is scheduled to premiere on June 28.
